Guillem Valle

Barcelona, 1983

I discovered photography at the age of 14, during a student exchange program in Sarajevo.

After studying photography in Barcelona, I worked for numerous newspapers and magazines, all while continuing to develop my own photographic projects.

I spent four years in Bangkok as a freelance photographer, working with international media outlets like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and GEO, as well as organizations such as the UN.

My work has earned prestigious awards such as the World Press Photo, The Best of Photojournalism by the US National Press Photographers Association (NPPA), and the Spanish National Human Rights Association Awards.

In the same period, I photographed the Arab Spring including the civil war in Libya and the Kurdish struggle in Northern Syria.

After years of photographic work, I gradually developed a passion for filmmaking.

In 2016, I studied film direction at ESCAC and began producing and directing both fiction and non-fiction projects.

My documentary work has been shown on platforms and networks like HBO, Al Jazeera, and TIME Magazine. My fiction work has been selected at several film festivals.

After living for three years in London, I moved back to Barcelona where I work as an independent documentary director, cinematographer, and producer.

I hold a 4th dan black belt degree in Aikido, and I get easily distracted by dogs.
